Under the contract, Technip will provide project management, engineering, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning services for a 15.8km long pipeline with 12in diameter and a 13.9km pipeline with a 30in width.
The company will install the pipelines from the existing facilities in South Timbalier 280 and Ewing Bank 873 to the new platform in block 283. The firm will use G1200 vessel to carry out the installation of the offshore pipelines in 2013.
Technip North America Region senior VP David Dickson said, "This award is the largest-diameter pipelay contract for Technip in the Gulf of Mexico,thanks to the acquisition of Global Industries. This 30"pipeline will also be the largest diameter lines installed by the G1200 vessel to date."
The pre-commissioning of the pipelines will be performed by one of Technip’s diving support vessels. Technip’s operating center in Houston Texas will carry out the overall project management and engineering work.
Discovery System is co-owned and operated by Williams Partners with 60% interest, while DCP Midstream Partners holds the remaining 40%.
