France-based Technip has secured a contract worth approximately EUR55m ($79.19m) from Statoil for the development of the Vigdis North-East field in the Norwegian Sea.

Under the contract, the company will weld and install flowlines, including a 1.5-kilometer pipe-in-pipe production flowline and a nine-kilometer plastic-lined water injection flowline.

The order also covers subsea equipment installation, supply of flexible tails for the flowlines, and installation and tie-ins of flowlines flexible tails, jumpers and umbilicals.

The contract will be executed by Technip’s operating center in Oslo, Norway, and the company’s Apache II pipelay vessel will perform the flowline installation in mid-2012.

Vigdis North-East is a fast-track oil and gas field located at a water depth of 220 – 310 meters.

Technip provides project management, engineering and construction services for the oil and gas industry.
