The contract was awarded by Bahrain-based national oil company Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO).
Under the contract, Technip will provide engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning, and start-up support for the SRU project at the crude oil refinery.
Modification of the #3 SRU will ensure that the unit is capable of safely burning sour water stripper off gas and become a viable spare for the new #4 SRU.
Technip Middle East senior vice president Vaseem Khan said the contract further strengthens the company’s relationship with BAPCO and ensures continuity of services to it.
"Technip in the Middle East has a vast experience in managing complex brownfield EPC projects and is therefore best suited to execute this contract, with an aggressive fast-track schedule regarding ready for start-up and commissioning phases," Khan added.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Bahrain Refinery processes more than 250,000 barrels of crude every day of which nearly one-sixth is produced from Bahrain Field.
