The Ichthys field is located in the Browse Basin about 200km offshore Western Australia.
Inpex has novated this contract to McDermott as part of the overall subsea umbilical, riser, flow line EPCI contract.
The Supply A Production and Gas Export Lines contract includes 3km of smooth bore 10-inch flexible gas export risers and 3km of 12-inch production risers.
Technip’s operating center in Perth will execute the contract with the flexible risers being manufactured at the company’s flexible plant in Le Trait, France.
Gas from the Ichthys field will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate.
The project is expected to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas per annum, along with about 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between operator Inpex, holding 76% and French firm Total, which holds a 24% interest.
