The mine will have a total capacity to produce 6,800t of uranium per annum and generate revenues of about N$7bn ($0.80bn) for the company, reported Informante.
Expected to cost N$1.6bn ($0.18bn), once completed the mine will make Namibia one of the highest uranium producers across the globe, claimed Taurus.
Development at the Husab Uranium mine follows on the country’s recent announcement of the Vision 2030 economic and social objectives.
The mine is projected to generate about 4,000 temporary jobs to the economy over the next three years during development and employ another 1,325 people in permanent capacity once operations commence.
