Indian utility Tata Power has reported revenues of INR13.5 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2008, up 12.57% compared to the same period of 2007, as well as net profit of INR2.57 billion, up 27.24% compared to the prior-year period.

During the first half of fiscal 2008, the company reported profits of INR4.48 billion and revenues of INR28.62 billion, an increase of 38.09% and 11.44%, respectively. During the corresponding period last year, profits and revenues were INR3.24 billion and INR25.68 billion, respectively. Sales volume rose by 7.01% at 7.86 billion units, against 7.35 billion units in the first half of 2007.

In the first half of fiscal 2008, the company’s Trombay thermal power station recorded its highest ever thermal generation of 5.04 billion units and operated at a plant load factor (PLF) of 86.32%. The Jojobera thermal power station also recorded higher generation at 1.44 billion units and improved PLF at 76.8%, as compared to 1.33 billion units and PLF of 71% in the previous year.
