The proposed solar power project, which will be spread over an area of about 130 acres, will use an advanced photovoltaic based solar generation technology, the company said.
Tata Power’s distribution unit will purchase the clean electricity generated at the solar plant, under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.
The power generated at the project will be transmitted through Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission’s (MSETL) network.
Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said the company was aiming to generate 20-25 % of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources.
"Tata Power strives to reduce its carbon footprint. We would like to thank the Government of Maharashtra and all our stakeholders for the support extended for setting up this solar power project at Palaswadi," added Sardana.
Currently, Tata Power has four of its renewable projects registered under the Clean Development Mechanism program by United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
