With the addition of this unit, the total capacity of the thermal power station is now 547.5MW.

The Unit 5 is an asset of Industrial Energy Limited, a joint venture between Tata Power and Tata Steel, which was set up to develop new captive power projects to meet the power requirements of Tata Steel.
Tata Power managing director Anil Sardana said that the commercial operation of Unit 5 at Jojobera marks a significant step towards augmenting power requirements of Tata Steel.
