The Manora-5 exploration in the G1/48 concession located in the Northern Kra Basin, Gulf of Thailand, three kilometres north of the Manora Oil Development.
Tap Oil is drilling the exploration well in the shallow water and has plans to spud it for a target depth of 2,450m to test separate geological structure, independent of the Manora field.
The company is aiming to target a combined prospective resource of around 12 million barrels (PMean) in the primary and secondary targets.
Manora-5 is first of the three exploration wells that Tap Oil plans to drill in the Gulf of Thailand. The other two wells will be drilled in the months of November and December 2012.
G1/48 concession partners are Pearl Oil (Amata) with 40%, Tap Energy (Thailand) with 30%, Pearl Oil (G1) with 20%, and Northern Gulf Petroleum with 10%.
