Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in India is planning to set up captive mini/micro hydel projects at four locations, where the private sector will be allowed to sell directly to consumers.
The projects involved in this scheme are: •Tuklapatti canal drop project, Madurai, 350kW.
•Vilampatti canal drop project, Madurai 500kW.
•Taliyar mini hydroelectric project, Madurai, 2x250kW.
•Poosaripatti canal drop project, Coimbatore, 300kW.
The power generated from the plants will be wheeled to the point of consumption through the electricity board’s lines.
