Spudded in July 2014, the Nueva Esperanza-1 well was drilled to a total depth at 12,056ft.
Perforations of 309ft in the T2 formation stabilized at a daily flow rate of 910 barrels of 8° API crude oil, during an initial 8-day flow test using an electro submersible pumping system, with less than 2% water cut during the last day of flow.
Currently, the team is analyzing the results and is expected to file an application to place the Nueva Esperanza-1 well on long-term test, with the Colombian authorities.
The partners also secured approvals to drill two down-dip appraisal wells, the first of which had commenced drilling operations on 16 November.
The Talisman and Ecopetrol made the second oil discovery, Nueva Esperanza-1, in Block CPO-9, following the hydrocarbons discovery in the Akacias structure in 2010.
Additionally, the partners declared commerciality of the Akacias Field, in accordance with Colombian regulations, in December 2013 and is due to receive a development license.
Ecopetrol operates the Block CPO-9 with a 55% interest while Talisman (Colombia) Oil & Gas has a 45% interest in the license.
