Under the agreement, Synd Holdco will acquire four operating wind projects in the UK, which include 28.6MW Drone Hill; 22MW North Rhins; 20.5MW Sixpenny Wood; and 16.4MW Yelvertoft.
The wind projects, totaling 87.5MW, will be acquired by SYND Holdco for $160m.
AES president and chief executive officer Andrés Gluski said: "This transaction demonstrates the strong interest for wind projects in the United Kingdom.
"Although we believe that this transaction represents compelling value for AES, we are continuing to develop a pipeline of 250 MW of wind projects in Scotland."
The transaction, which is subject to customary purchase price adjustments, is due to close in the third quarter of 2014.
