The company has launched SunPower Oasis power plant in the EU for design and development, with the construction scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2011.

Each power block integrates the SunPower T0 tracker with SunPower’s 425W utility solar panel, pre-manufactured system cabling, the Oasis smart inverter, the Oasis operating system and SunPower advanced tracker monitoring and control system for wireless control of the power plant.

SunPower Oasis, which is scalable from 1MW distributed installations to large central station power plants is engineered from the ground up to optimize use of available land and shipped preassembled for rapid field installation.

The SunPower Oasis operating system is built to incorporate utility-standard SCADA operation and analytical tools and is designed to support future grid interconnection requirements for large scale solar plants.

SunPower Europe vice president and general manager Gian Ferraro said SunPower Oasis is a ground-breaking, utility-scale solar solution that optimizes energy production, installation speed, material cost, and long-term reliability.
