SunPower has secured orders to supply 130MW of its solar panels for newly announced large-scale solar projects in France.

The American renewable energy company’s supply makes up 31% of the solar panels needed to build projects that were awarded to different companies in the first round of a tender process.

The Silicon Valley-headquartered SunPower will deliver its E-Series solar panels which would be installed at 25 ground-mount and carport solar power projects.

SunPower executive vice president Eduardo Medina said: "SunPower solar panels deliver competitive cost of energy, highest reliability and proven long-term performance.

"We are proud to be the leading provider of solar panels for the solar projects announced in this first tender round, and to play a key role in promoting the use of clean, renewable solar power in France."

As per the US energy company, a significant amount of the panels for the projects will be manufactured at its plants in Toulouse, France.

The company’s direct current E-Series and X-Series solar panels are Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver, making it the first solar panel manufacturer in the world to get the designation.

Last month, SunPower embarked on the construction of a 56MW AC solar power plant in the US. Named as the Gala Solar Power Plant, it is expected to become the largest operating solar power facility in Oregon.

Days before that, SunPower had won a supply order for 64.4MW of its E-Series solar panels needed for seven solar power plants in France built by Engie’s subsidiary La Compagnie du Vent.
