Expected to become operational by 2016-end, the solar plant will generate clean energy enough to power over 22,000 homes.The project is expected to create over 350 jobs, during the construction phase.
The electricity generated at the solar plant will be supplied to Pacific Gas and Electric’s customers, under a long-term power purchase agreement.
The company is also constructing a SunPower Oasis Power Plant system at the Henrietta site which is a fully-integrated, modular solar power block that is engineered to deploy utility-scale solar projects while optimizing land use and reducing costs.
The technology includes robotic solar panel cleaning capability that uses 75% less water than traditional cleaning methods, by improving system performance by up to 15%.
