The pipeline, which is being developed jointly by Sunoco and MarkWest Liberty Midstream & Resources, will deliver ethane from Marcellus Shale processing and fractionation areas in western Pennsylvania to Marysville and the international border near Marysville, Michigan.
Mariner West is scheduled to begin operations by July 2013, and it is expected to have an initial capacity to transport up to 50,000 barrels of ethane per day.
According to the company, the capacity can also be scaled to support higher volumes as needed.
The open season has been started from 21 July 2011 and will end on 22 August of this year.
