SunEdison has completed the development of the 20MW AC (alternating current) Adobe solar facility at Kern County in California, the US.

Solar Power

Equipped with 80,000 SunEdison Silvantis solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, the project has been developed for Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy.

SunEdison will provide asset management, monitoring and maintenance services for the project through its Renewable Operations Center.

SunEdison North America president Bob Powell said the Adobe solar facility is the fourth project that has been completed through a partnership with Southern Power and Turner Renewable Energy.

"Southern Company and Turner Renewable Energy are demonstrating their commitment to extending the use of renewable energy in the United States and we are honored that they have repeatedly chosen to work with us," Powell added.

Southern California Edison, a subsidiary of Edison International, is set to purchase the electricity generated by the facility under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Over the course of 20 years, the facility is expected to produce enough electricity to power nearly 92,000 homes and offset carbon emissions equivalent to removing almost 102,000 cars from the road for one year.
