Switzerland-based pumping solutions provider Sulzer Pumps has inked a long term deal with FMC Technologies to collaborate and develop and supply pumps for subsea applications.

The agreement will also develop the pumping technology of Sulzer Pumps to meet the needs of FMC Technologies and the subsea exploration and production industry at large.

As part of the deal, both the companies are expecting to take further advantage of the technology such as the pumps from Sulzer Pumps, and the subsea systems and advanced permanent magnet motor technology from FMC Technologies.

FMC Technologies Subsea Technologies senior vice president Tore Halverson said, "The signing of this long-term and exclusive collaboration agreement is a natural progression of the long-standing cooperation already in place between Sulzer Pumps and FMC Technologies."

Together, over the years, the two companies have developed, built, and qualified new, high-speed helicon-axial multiphase subsea boosting unit using the Sulzer Pumps’ field-proven topside pump designs.

The pumps are driven by a permanent magnet motor that provides high speed, more power, high efficiency, and cost effective subsea boosting systems for FMC Technologies and upstream industry.
