The ultra-mega transmission project (UMTP), which is a part of the National Grid, will feature one substation and 800 circuit kilometers of 400kV lines in the states of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
The NRSS 29 project will provide a direct link between Punjab and the valley region and plans also include a new route to ensure the line has minimum outages.
Sterlite Grid will also be responsible to ensure that the link is active for 98% of the year after completion of the construction works.
Sterlite Technologies director Pravin Agarwal said the project will bring more than 1000MW of uninterrupted power to residents of the Kashmir valley.
"We look forward to commissioning this transmission link in record time with the help of the State Government, the Government of India, and the people of Jammu & Kashmir," Agarwal added.
Sterlite Grid currently has a portfolio of UMTPs featuring more than 5000 circuit kilometers of EHV lines and three substations.
