Statoil Petroleum has received a drilling permit for well 25/8-18 in production license 69 from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
At position 59°15’1.12" north and 2°37’0.59" east of the Grane field in the central part of North Sea, the well will be drilled from the Ocean Vanguard drilling facility.
Statoil will drill the well from 0.7km southeast of wildcat well 25/8-4, while it is the 14th exploration well drilled within PL169.
With a 57% stake, Statoil is the operator of the well, while other licensees include Petoro with 30% interest and ExxonMobil E&P Norway with 13% stake.
In March 1991, the production licence 169 has been awarded, and the area in this include parts of blocks 25/8 and 25/11.
