Statoil Petroleum has received drilling permit for well 25/11-26 in Norway from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

Under the licence, the first appraisal well 16/2-15 will be drilled in production licence 265 for Statoil.

The company will then spud well 25/11-26 from the Ocean Vanguard drilling facility at position 58°14’03.21" north and 2°36’40.99" east.

Drilling of the well 25/11-26 is part of drilling a wildcat well in production licence 169, which was awarded in the 13th licensing round on 1 March 1991.

The well was drilled about 2km south of the 25/8-4 well in the central part of the North Sea. The area in this licence includes parts of the 25/8 and 25/11 blocks.

Statoil Petroleum with 57% interest is the operator of the license, while other licensees include Petoro and ExxonMobil E&P Norway having 30% and 13% interest respectively.
