Activated carbon is a form of carbon that has been processed to make it extremely porous, and contains very large surface area for adsorption and or chemical reactions.
Under the contract, Standard gold will strip the gold from the activated carbon, and will receive a percentage of recovered metal as processing services fees.
The activated carbon which will be delivered for processing is expected to contain hundreds of ounces of gold per tonne, according to the mining firm.
Standard Gold will receive the first tonnage of carbon to be processed in this month, and will carry out the processing activities on a weekly basis.
