Scottish Hydro-Electric Transmission Limited, part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group, has invited consumers to attend an exhibition to find out more about the company's proposals for a proposed new electrical link between the Kintyre peninsula and North Ayrshire. The company will also be seeking consumers' views on the proposed connection.

The proposal, dubbed the Kintyre to Hunterston Reinforcement, is required to transport green energy from wind farms in Kintyre to the main electrical grid.

In order for local people to find out more about the electricity connection proposal, the Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) unit will be holding an exhibition, at which engineers will be able to explain the proposal and answer questions, on February 8, 2007.

In other recent news, SSE signed an agreement to partner with Viking Energy on a proposed wind farm project and sub-sea cable that would connect Shetland and the Scottish mainland.
