Investment is said to be a part of company’s investment program to 2015.

The company has agreed to acquire the 33-turbine project located near Loch Mhor, 25km south of Inverness from Renewable Energy Systems Group (RES). The project is estimated to produce 350GWh per year.

Commenting on its plans, SSE Renewables managing director Jim Smith said that the acquisition of the wind project is in accordance with the company’s plans to enhance its wind energy portfolio through purchases and divestments.

"Dunmaglass is a well designed project which benefits from an excellent wind resource compared to typical onshore sites. The construction timetable for the project fits well with our existing development portfolio and will enable us to optimise the use of existing resources and contracts," added Smith.

The full construction of the wind farm in expected to begin in latter part of 2013 with an anticipated project completion date of 2016.

Following the completion of the project the company expects that it would qualify for support through the Renewables Obligation Certificate (ROC) policy.
