Construction on the project began in October 2010 and wind turbine deliveries are under way, with 15 of the 35 turbines fully erected at site.

The first array has now been energized and two wind turbines are exporting power to the national grid.

The wind farm is expected to produce around 180GWh in a typical year and its construction cost is expected to be just over GBP100m.

SSE Renewables managing director Jim Smith said as the SSE is committed to helping increase the amount of renewable electricity generation in the UK, and the export of electricity at Gordonbush is a step towards achieving this.
