The existing 18.7MW project comprises two plants, Tangy I with 12.75MW and Tangy II with 5.95MW capacity. Tangy 1 features 15 Vestas turbines of 850kW each, while Tangy II, the extended version, is equipped with seven Gamesa turbines of 850kW each.
The existing site is likely to remain in operation until 2022, while the proposed extension, to be called as Tangy III, would significantly increase the efficiency and longevity of the site, the company claims.
The company recently presented its extension plans to local communities during two public exhibitions held on 27 August 2013 at Machrihanish Village Hall and then at Campbeltown Town Hall.
The company sought feedback until 24 September 2013 from the local populace and said that such feedback would help it to draft more detailed plans, which are expected to be presented during further exhibitions planned for spring 2014.
Tangy III Proposal project developer Kerry-Anne McKay said that currently the extension plan is at a very early stage in the development process and is coordinating with statutory and non-statutory consultees to move forward with the project.
"We are pleased that members of the public have taken the time to come and speak with us and find out more about our proposals.
"The purpose of our exhibitions is to provide the opportunity for people to meet the project team, ask questions, raise any concerns and provide comments that can be considered as part of the development process," McKay added.
