Salt River Project is preparing to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) in early 2018 for 100MW of new renewable energy.
The renewable energy projects selected in the process are intended to help SRP expand its customer-dedicated green energy programs for large commercial and industrial customers.
The RFPs will be issued next month and will consider a number of technologies, including solar, wind, geothermal and biomass. SRP will also accept bids for renewable energy projects that include a battery storage component.
SRP is seeking green energy projects that could begin operation by the end of 2020, and will consider proposals for renewable facilities both in and outside of SRP’s service territory in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, including tribal lands.
Additional details and a date to issue the RFP will be available in early January.
SRP’s Fiscal Year 2017 generation portfolio incorporates 838 MW of renewable energy resources, including solar, wind, biomass, geothermal and hydroelectric power.
SRP is a community-based, not-for-profit public power utility and the largest provider of electricity in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, serving more than 1 million customers. SRP is also the metropolitan area’s largest supplier of water, delivering about 800,000 acre-feet annually to municipal, urban and agricultural water users.
