Springer has formed a partnership with the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute (SGEPRI) in China to publish the Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy.

The Chinese research institute will sponsor the journal, which will function as its official journal.

The journal will focus on modern power systems that include smart grid technologies, clean energy integration, clean energy control and protection, and the electricity market.

Springer’s Beijing office editorial director Lu Ye said power systems and clean energy are timely and challenging research fields for global scientists and governments.

"We are pleased that the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute has chosen to work with Springer and will fully sponsor the journal using the open access model," Ye added.

Springer said the new journal will expand its energy portfolio and Chinese Library of Science.

SGEPRI president and editor-in-chief of the new journal Yusheng Xue said, "We believe that the partnership will improve communication in the community of power systems researchers and bring their important topics to the attention of an international audience."

SGEPRI, which is affiliated with the State Grid Corporation of China, has scientific research centers and industrial companies from the fields of energy.
