The boost of 3,000 MW in Spain in 2008 would surpass all new plants installed in the world in 2007.
In its second quarterly tender held in 2009, the industry ministry said the solar projects would be entitled to obtain feed-in tariffs of up to EUR340 ($442.8) per MW hour for 25 years.
Feed-in tariffs will make solar and other renewable energy technologies gradually competitive with conventional energy, and compare to wholesale power prices of EUR40-EUR44 /MWh in Spain.
Spain government would tender for projects to construct 35.3 MW roof-mounted panels in the third quarter of 2009, and 89.5 MW of ground-based plants.
