Quoting a draft decree, Europa Press news agency cited Spain energy ministry as saying that the auction will be the first move since the approval of the country’s energy reform.
The new capacity will support the ministry’s ongoing plans for electricity and gas sectors.
The country plans to develop the wind farms within five years. The farms will represent €21m in additional costs every year, with biomass requiring €130m annually, SeeNews reported.
The costs will be absorbed in the electricity tariff.
Wind power auctions will include installation of new capacity or renewal of existing turbines, in continental Spain or the islands.
Renewable energy accounted to 42.8% of total power generated in Spain in 2014. The country aims to meet 45% of its energy needs from renewable energy sources.
