Mr Santos was a founding investor and director of Solmino Renewable Energy, a Brazilian sugarcane ethanol company. He worked closely with Solmino management to raise more than $150 million. His involvement in the sugarcane industry dates back to the early 1990s when he advised a Brazilian sugarcane co-operative.
