Texas-based gas company Southern Union has reported earnings from continuing operations of $45.3 million, or $0.34 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2007, compared with $11.8 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, for the same quarter of 2006.

Net operating revenue was $260.3 million for the quarter, compared to $222.5 million for the same period in 2006, an increase of $37.8 million, or 17%.

For the nine month period ended September 30, 2007, the company reported earnings from continuing operations of $175 million ($1.34 per share), compared with $101.6 million ($0.76 per share) for the same period in 2006. Net operating revenue for the nine month period was $798.2 million, compared to $664.7 million for the same period in 2006, an increase of $133.5 million, or 20.1%.

For the quarter ended September 30, 2007, the company reported EBIT from continuing operations of $119.8 million, an increase of $31.4 million, or 35.5%, compared with $88.4 million for the same period in 2006. For the nine month period ended September 30, 2007, EBIT was $397.8 million, an increase of $70.7 million, or 21.6%, compared with $327.1 million in the same period of 2006.
