The companies said that non-generating equipment and facilities will be dismantled in the coming months and in 2010, the plant’s generating equipment will be removed and its operating permits terminated. The site’s transmission switchyard and some related facilities will remain in place.
The owners have not yet decided about the final disposition of the plant property. Among the options being considered by Mohave’s owners are the sale of the site and construction of a renewable energy project.
Southern California Edison Company holds 56% in Mohave with Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District holding 20%, NV Energy 14% and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power 10%.
