Southern Star through its Straight Blackwell Expansion project aims at inviting bids from companies to commit for additional capacity transportation on its pipeline system to evaluate whether or not to pursue the proposed pipeline expansion.

Under the expansion project, the company proposes to expand the capacity of its natural gas transmission system starting in Texas County, Oklahoma, along the Straight Blackwell Line to its Blackwell Compressor Station, located in Kay County, Oklahoma.

The expansion project is being considered to address the growing production in the Western Oklahoma including the Granite Wash, Cleveland/Tonkawa and Mississippi Lime areas and to provide access to markets in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri and to other intrastate and interstate pipelines.

The last date to receive bids for the firm transportation capacity on the Straight Blackwell Expansion Project is 7 December 2012 by 5 pm.

Southern Star, if receives enough bids, and approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, is expected to put the expanded capacity in service on 1 October 2013.
