Under the contract, the Quanta unit will construct a new 153-mile, 500kV electric transmission line in an existing corridor.
Construction work on the project is expected to begin by the end of 2011, with line construction activities expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2013.
The project’s main component includes building a new 111-mile power line between SCE’s Devers substation near Palm Springs and the new Colorado River Substation, near Blythe, California.
The project also includes a new 42-mile, 500kV power line between Devers Substation and SCE’s Valley Substation in Menifee, California.
