Spread over four campuses of the Tanque Verde High School and Elementary School, the Emily Gray Junior High School and the Agua Caliente Elementary School the project will be a combination of shade structures and rooftop systems.
TVUSD will purchase power from SOLON as per the terms under a 25-year power purchase agreement signed by the two.
Power produced by the PV systems is expected to meet the daytime energy requirements of each of the school’s on whose campuses the systems are to be installed.
"The solar installations will bring cost savings, campus improvements and educational opportunities to our students, staff and community," said TVUSD Governing Board member Claire Place.
SOLON Corporation is a major provider of turnkey solar power plants and photovoltaic (PV) products, and will engineer, design, construct, commission and maintain the operation of the PV systems installed under the contract.
The systems are expected to be fully installed and operational by 2013.
