The registration will now allow Solazyme to commercial sell its fuel in both blended and non-blended form.
Solazyme vice president of fuels commercialization Bob Ames claimed that Soladiesel is the first 100% microbially based fuel in history to receive an EPA fuel registration.
"Our Soladiesel and Solajet fuels have been extensively demonstrated in a wide array of platforms from cars, light trucks and buses, to commercial and military jets, helicopters, large commercial shipping vessels and Navy destroyers," added Ames.
"These higher performing advanced biofuels will lead the path forward to reducing emissions and increasing energy independence."
