Solarcentury has boosted its global solar power project pipeline with the acquisition of 400 MW in Latin America.

The solar energy firm acquired the pipeline from ECOSolar, a private equity firm. Four of ECOSolar’s staff have joined Solarcentury.

The 400 MW pipeline comprises utility-scale projects that are ready to build or partially developed in Mexico and central and South America, Solarcentury said.

The move is in line with the firm’s plans to become a leading developer of solar energy in Latin America.

“Solarcentury’s development experience will ensure that the sizeable pipeline of acquired projects will be converted to completed projects, ensuring ROI for investors, and that businesses will benefit from cheaper power for the lifetime of the projects,” said Enrique de Ramon, ECOSolar General Manager and now Managing Director of Solarcentury in Latin America. “The project pipeline for the whole of Solarcentury’s LatAm business is now over 1 GW … the company is exceptionally well placed to become a market leader in the region.”
