Upon completion, Solar Trust of America’s Blythe project will have a total nominal capacity of 1,000MW.

Solar Trust of America said due to the change to PV technology, the company will be able to roll out construction of the Blythe facility in phases, rather than 250MW at-a-time as was planned with CSP.

Solar Trust of America also has also entered into agreements for 1,500MW of transmission access.

Solar Trust of America chairman and CEO Uwe Schmidt said as the PV base in North America grows, the grid-stabilizing characteristics of CSP will be recognized and rewarded.
