Under the 20-year agreement, the companies have leased the roof surfaces of Canadian distiller Hiram Walker’s warehouse location in Pike Creek.

The 7.9MW rooftop solar project will be constructed under Ontario’s feed-in tariff program.

The solar installation will produce enough electricity to power 3,000 homes and offset 9,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

Revenue generated by Hiram Walker through the lease agreement will be reinvested in higher efficiency boilers, helping the distillery to further reduce its energy consumption by 20%.

SAT said it has signed an agreement with Soventix Canada to buy 41.5MW of panels manufactured by the company in Ontario, over the next three years.
