The Spanish company Sogama has ordered two circulating fluidized bed boilers from Kværner Pulping. The 75 MW units will be used to burn refuse-derived fuel.
Sogama is based in the city of La Coruna on the northwest coast of Spain. The company was founded to take charge of both solid waste handling and disposal in the province of Galicia.
It is owned jointly by the Galician government and the utility Union Fenosa. It will also receive funding from the European Union.
The company will treat approximately 600 000 t each year.
The power plant, which includes a complex gas cleaning system, will be built with the facility to double its capacity in the future.
