SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (SNC-Lavalin) has announced the resignation of Jacques Lamarre as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of SNC-Lavalin Group, effective May 7, 2009. Pierre Duhaime has been appointed as the company's new president and CEO, and as a director, effective May 7, 2009. Lamarre served as president and CEO for about 13 years. Lamarre had a 42 year career with the company. Lamarre joined SNC-Lavalin in 1967 as a young civil engineer.

As president and CEO, Lamarre has led Canada’s engineering and construction company through a period of unprecedented growth and global expansion. He has been honoured and awarded for his vision, leadership abilities and contributions to the engineering profession as a whole both in Canada and internationally.

But for Jacques Lamarre, SNC-Lavalin has always been simply a home away from home.

“SNC-Lavalin has been a second family for me, somewhere I felt at home,” Lamarre said. “I have had the privilege of meeting and working with so many people of high calibre on SNC-Lavalin’s multicultural teams across Canada and around the world, as well as those of our clients. This has always given me immense pleasure, and part of me says I would like this to go on forever.”

“However, at age 65, I feel it is time to move on. And so it is with great pride and confidence for SNC-Lavalin’s future that I pass the baton to Pierre Duhaime. I have no doubt he will take this great Company to new levels.”
