SMEC, a provider of consultancy services, has established a new operation in New Zealand – SMEC New Zealand.
The initial focus of SMEC New Zealand will be the power, energy, dams and hydropower sectors, and the new office will be in Auckland with operations beginning in October 2011.
SMEC said its long-term plan is to expand business throughout New Zealand and provide its full range of services.
The company brings to New Zealand decades of experience delivering large infrastructure projects including the 2,400MW Bakun hydropower project in Malaysia, the Rohtang Highway Tunnel in India, and the South West Rail Link Project in Australia, to name a few.
