Shanghai SmartPay Jieyin, a consumer payment systems provider in China, has formed a nationwide partnership with China Merchants Bank to jointly develop their presence in the mobile payment market of China.

According to the partnership agreement, China Merchants Bank (CMB) customers will be able to enjoy mobile payment services using SmartPay’s mobile and telephone payment platform. Services include purchasing airline e-tickets, digital goods and payment of utility bills, including pre- and post-paid mobile usage.

CMB and SmartPay say that their increased cooperation in nationwide payment services will make mobile and telephone payments more attractive for consumers, as well as increasing transaction volume and revenue.

To support these aims, the companies have developed a number of new initiatives for near-term rollout to broaden and diversify their consumer offering.
