The Uzbek Ministry for Agriculture and Water, and China’s National Electric Equipment Corporation (CNEEC), signed an agreement in mid-April for the construction of two small hydroelectric power plants in Uzbekistan.

According to the Interfax news agency, the total construction cost of the two plants will be US$17M, with China’s Eximbank to provide a credit worth US$14.9M.

The contract provides for the supply and installation by the Chinese partner of generating units to the 50MW Andijan hydro plant and the 21MW Ahangar hydro plant.
