SkyPower FAS Energy has signed agreements with both the Federal Republic of Nigeria Government and the Delta State of Nigeria Government to develop 3,000MW utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.

The projects will be constructed within Nigeria and the Delta State of Nigeria over the next five years.

After completion, the multi-phase development projects will generate sustainable energy to meet the energy needs of Nigeria.

The projects, which will be connected the Nigerian power grid, are anticipated to start operations in phases commencing in 2015.

SkyPower FAS Energy is a joint venture (JV) between SkyPower Global and FAS Energy.

SkyPower FAS Energy general manager Sabri Asfour said the signing of the agreements and start of the groundbreaking projects demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to clean, renewable energy.

"SkyPower FAS Energy’s combined expertise in infrastructure development and construction will generate a large number of new jobs, support skills development, and increase prosperity in the regions of the country where these solar projects will be built," Asfour added.

The JV intends to develop and construct utility-scale solar PV parks throughout the MENA region.
