Engineering and construction services firm Foster Wheeler has announced that subsidiaries of its global power group have been awarded a contract for two circulating fluidized-bed steam generators by Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical Company, a subsidiary of China-based Sinochem Corporation.

The circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) project is part of a residue processing project being undertaken by Sinochem Quanzhou. Foster Wheeler said that it has received a full notice to proceed on the engineering and supply of two 75MWe (gross megawatt electric) class CFB steam generators.

The coke-fired CFBs will be designed by Foster Wheeler International Engineering & Consulting Shanghai. Foster Wheeler Power Machinery Company, which owns a manufacturing facility in Xinhui, China, will be responsible for manufacturing the boilers.

The terms of the award were not disclosed. Commercial operation of the new boilers is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2009.
