Signal Wind Energy LLC (Signal Wind) has completed the Snyder wind farm in Scurry county, Texas for Enel North America, Inc. (Enel), a subsidiary of Enel SpA. The wind farm is operating with 21 Vestas V90 3.0 megawatt (MW) wind turbines atop 105 meter towers. Signal Wind was the design/build balance of plant general contractor on the project. The Snyder facility will produce enough energy to power 12,000 homes annually.

The 3.0 MW wind turbines sit atop the tall towers at a record breaking 345 feet to capitalize on the superior wind conditions found at that height.

Signal Wind’s scope of work included the design and construction of all civil infrastructure, the wind turbine foundations, the project substation, the electrical collection system and the 69kV transmission line to the interconnection facility. In addition to the Snyder project, Signal Wind is currently providing design/build services on multiple wind projects throughout the US and Canada.

“The record-breaking height of the turbines on the Snyder Project is a great example of the innovation present in the wind energy industry today,” said Ben Fischer, Signal Wind president. “Signal Wind continues to find new, better, and more efficient ways to construct every wind project we are involved in.”
