The $1.8 billion PATH project will be constructed across part of Maryland and most of West Virginia.

Officials stated that the project would be detrimental to the health of West Virginian residents who are already experiencing ailments associated with coal-fired power stations.

Company officials have stated that PATH would abide by existing power corridors for all barring two miles of its planned route. They added that the PATH project was necessary to satisfy the high electricity demand along the country’s East Coast.

Allegheny Power and AEP have submitted applications for permits for the PATH project, and a resolution on the planned route will likely be made in 12 months time.
