Siemens as turnkey contractor will be responsible for all aspects of construction of the PV plants, including civil works, supports, inverters, transformers, grid connection, control system and structures for the approximately 111,000 solar panels. The order includes an operation and maintenance (O&M) contract.

The plants, which will be built on an area extending across 66 hectares on the Puimichel plateau, are scheduled to go on line in stages starting in the summer of 2011 and will supply ecofriendly power to around 12,000 French households.

Siemens said that PV plants are part of its environmental portfolio with which it earned revenues of nearly EUR23bn in fiscal 2009. With the new order, the company is entering in the French solar market.
